Math Foundations Workshop
A solid start begins with strong foundations.
This workshop is designed to review and reinforce key math concepts from the previous year while preparing students for success in the upcoming school year. Each grade-level group focuses on age-appropriate skills, strategies, and problem-solving techniques.

1st Grade
Counting to 120 and understanding place value
Addition and subtraction within 20
Word problems with basic operations
Understanding whole numbers, tens, and ones
Introduction to shapes and their attributes
Measuring lengths and telling time to the hour/half-hour
2nd Grade
Place value to 1,000
Addition and subtraction within 100
Introduction to simple word problems with multiple steps
Introduction to arrays and the concept of multiplication
Understanding and working with money
Time to the nearest five minutes, and reading bar graphs
3rd Grade
Multiplication and division within 100
Understanding and representing fractions
Place value and rounding
Area and perimeter of simple shapes
Interpreting data from picture and bar graphs
Introduction to word problems with all four operations
4th Grade
Multi-digit multiplication and long division
Adding and subtracting fractions with like denominators
Decimal place value and comparing decimals
Measurement conversions within the same system
Area, perimeter, and symmetry
Solving word problems with multi-step reasoning
5th Grade
Adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing fractions
Decimals: place value, rounding, and operations
Volume of rectangular prisms
Coordinate plane basics and graphing points
Interpreting line plots with fractions
Word problems using numerical expressions
6th Grade
Operations with decimals and fractions
Ratios, rates, and unit conversions
Introduction to negative numbers and number lines
Algebraic expressions and equations
Area, surface area, and volume of 3D figures
Data analysis and statistical thinking
